Lichtfuss, Schilawski Earn NSCAA Academic Accolades

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest senior Zack Schilawski was named to the NSCAA/adidas Men's College Scholar All-America team, while senior Justin Lichtfuss was on the Scholar All-South region squad.

Schilawski was named a first team Scholar All-American and first team Scholar All-South region player. Lichtfuss was named to the second team Scholar All-South region.

A two-time first team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American, Schilawski is set to graduate in December with a degree in biology. The Cary, N.C., native currently carries a 3.576 grade point average and was named the ACC Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2008. He is also a three-time member of the ACC Honor Roll.

Schilawski led the ACC with 14 goals and 35 points in 2009. A 2009 All-ACC First Team selection, Schilawski earned All-American honors from the NSCAA and College Soccer News following the season. He led the Deacs with five game-winning goals on the season. Schilawski finished his career with 99 games played, setting a new school record. He also finished third in school history in goals (40) and points (100).

A senior defender from Baltimore, Md., Lichtfuss will graduate in December with a degree in business and a minor in health policy. Lichtfuss was selected to the 2009 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District team. A four-time member of the ACC Honor Roll, Lichtfuss has a 3.37 cumulative GPA and was named the Wake Forest Health Policy and Administration Student of the Year in 2008-09.

Lichtfuss started 22 games for Wake Forest in 2009 and helped the team to nine shutouts during the season. He also recorded one assist on the season, contributing on Andy Lubahn's goal in a victory against Duke. For his career, Lichtfuss played in 55 games, including 38 starts.

To be nominated for consideration, student-athletes must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) throughout their career; start more than 50 percent of all games and be a significant contributor to the team; be nominated by an institution that is a current NSCAA College Services member; be a junior or above in academic standing at the current institution and either be in their second year at the current school if a transfer student.

The NSCAA/adidas Scholar All-America selections will be recognized at the annual All-America Luncheon, held in Philadelphia, Pa., on Jan. 16 as part of the 2010 NSCAA Convention.
