Four Deacs Named to College Soccer News All-Decade Team

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Corben Bone, Will Hesmer, Ike Opara and Marcus Tracy were each named to the College Soccer News All-Decade Team.

Bone and Tracy earned first team honors, while Hesmer was named to the second team. Opara was a third team choice.

Wake Forest led all schools with four players on the squads. Connecticut and Indiana had three players selected to the all-decade team.

A junior midfielder from Plano, Texas, Bone earned All-American honors following the 2008 and 2009 seasons. A finalist for the 2010 M.A.C. Hermann Trophy, Bone was named the ACC's Offensive Player of the Year after scoring three goals and 13 assists. In his three seasons at Wake Forest, Bone ranks second in school history with 38 career assists and is ninth in school annals with 68 points.

A forward from Newtown, Conn., Tracy won the 2009 M.A.C. Hermann Trophy, becoming the first Demon Deacon to win the prestigious award. Tracy scored 13 goals and 10 assists during his senior season and was one of just two players nationwide to post double-digit totals in goals and assists. A consensus first-team All-American in 2009, Tracy also played an integral role in Wake's 2007 national championship, scoring three goals in the College Cup and earning Most Outstanding Offensive Player honors. Tracy finished his career with 83 points, scoring 30 goals and 23 assists over his four seasons. Tracy currently plays for Aalborg in the Danish Superliga.

A goalkeeper from Wilson, N.C., Hesmer ranks as one of the top goalkeepers in school history, ranking in the top five in school history in goals against average (0.82) and save percentage (.802). A three-time All-ACC selection, Hesmer was named an All-American following the 2002 and 2003 seasons. Hesmer has also enjoyed an outstanding professional career, playing and starting 71 games with the Columbus Crew and Kansas City Wizards. Hesmer was the starting keeper for the Crew during their 2008 MLS Cup championship.

A junior defender from Durham, N.C., Opara was named the ACC's Defensive Player of the Year in 2008 and 2009. A member of the U.S. U-20 Men's National Team at the FIFA U-20 World Cup, Opara has contributed to 20 shutouts over the past two seasons, including 14 during 2008. A consensus first team All-American in 2009, Opara scored three goals and added two assists during his junior season. For his career, Opara has scored nine goals and three assists in 65 games played, including 62 starts.
