Team Records and Series Notes:
- Wake Forest improves to 21-5 overall and 8-5 in league play, while NC State drops to 15-11 and 5-8 in conference play.
- NC State still leads the overall series 131-98, but the Deacs now lead 16-4 in games played at the Joel Coliseum.
- Wake Forest has now won 11 straight home games against in-state opponents. The last in-state team to beat the Deacs at the Joel Coliseum was North Carolina on January 24, 2007.
- The Deacs are now 13-1 at the Joel Coliseum this season. Wake has won 32 of its last 35 games at home and are 28-3 at the Joel Coliseum under Dino Gaudio.
- The Demon Deacons are back in action on Saturday, February 28, when they travel to Charlottesville, Va., to face the Virginia Cavaliers. Opening tip off is set for 2 p.m. (ET) and the game will be aired live on Raycom (television) and the Wake Forest ISP Radio Network.
Wake Forest Team Notes:
- Key Run: After NC State cut the lead to 74-71 with 2:25 remaining, the Deacs scored the next four points to stretch the lead out to seven with 1:06 remaining. James Johnson scored all four points in the run.
- Key Stat: Wake Forest continued its hot shooting on the season, making 32-of-61 shots for 52.5 percent. The Deacs have shot 50 percent or better in 15 games this season and have now out-shot their opponents in 24 games.
- Wake Forest out-rebounded NC State 42-27. The Demon Deacons are now 15-2 when winning the battle of the boards.
- The Deacons continued to shoot well from the free throw line, making 18-of-22 shots (81.8 percent) from the charity stripe. Wake Forest has shot at least 70 percent from the foul line in each of the last nine games.
- Wake Forest has now made a three-point basket in 546 consecutive games.
Wake Forest Individual Notes:
- Sophomore forward James Johnson scored a career-high 28 points and brought down a career-best 18 boards. The 18 rebounds are the most in a single game since January 11, 2006, when Eric Williams grabbed 20 rebounds against Clemson. Johnson also added two assists and a block.
- Junior guard Ishmael Smith scored a season-high 18 points, one point shy of tying his career high. Smith shot 6-of-8 from the field and was a perfect 4-of-4 at the foul line.
- Junior center Chas McFarland scored 15 points, notching his first double-digit point game since January 14 against Boston College. McFarland also grabbed eight rebounds and swatted two shots.
- Sophomore guard Jeff Teague was the fourth Demon Deacon in double figures with 12 points. He has now scored in double figures in 30 consecutive games. Teague also had four assists and a block.
