Jeff Teague Named Wooden Award Finalist

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest sophomore guard Jeff Teague has been named a finalist for the John R. Wooden Award, as announced on Thursday.
Teague was one of 24 players across the country named a finalist for the prestigious award which goes to college basketball's player of the year.
The Indianapolis native leads the Demon Deacons and ranks fourth in the ACC with 19.4 points per game. Teague ranks fourth in the league in steals (1.9 spg) and seventh in assists (3.6 apg). He tied for the conference lead with three 30-point performances and holds the second-longest current streak for double-figure scoring at 33 games.
Teague has already been named a national fi nalist for the Bob Cousy Award and the USBWA's Oscar Robertson Trophy, as well as a mid-season candidate for the Naismith Trophy and first team NABC All-District. This past week, he was named second team All-ACC and an All-American by the Sporting News and by FoxSports.com.
A national panel of more than 1,000 voters has until March 30 to cast ballots for the Wooden Award, allowing the finalist to be considered through the final eight of the NCAA Tournament. The award will be presented April 10 at the Los Angeles Athletic Club.
Teague and the No. 8-ranked Demon Deacons finished the regular season 24-5 overall and 11-5 in the ACC.
