WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's soccer team opens its spring schedule on Saturday afternoon when it plays host to Georgia. Opening kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Spry Stadium.
The game is the first of four home games for the Deacons during the spring season. Wake Forest will face Florida and South Carolina on March 28, before hosting Elon on April 15.
Wake Forest returns eight starters from the 2008 squad. Offensively, the Deacs return Jill Hutchinson, who led the team with 10 goals, seven assists and 27 points during the 2008 season and Allie Sadow, who scored six goals and four assists in 2008.
Kaley Fountain returns to lead the Wake Forest defense. Fountain was a member of the United States U-20 Women's National Team at the 2008 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile in December. Wake Forest also brings back both goalkeepers from the 2008 squad. Amanda Barasha and Laura Morse split time in goal for the Deacs last season.
Georgia finished the 2008 season with an 11-11-1 record and advanced to the NCAA Tournament, falling to James Madison in the first round.
