WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's soccer team split a pair of games against Southeastern Conference opponents on Saturday, dropping a 2-0 decision to Florida, before downing South Carolina 2-0 in the second game of the day.
The Demon Deacons and Gators played an even game for most of the contest. Florida scored twice in the first half, with both goals coming off Wake Forest mistakes. Wake Forest had most of the possession and chances in the second half but was unable to find the back of the net.
The Deacs were able to get a goal in each half in the game against South Carolina. Junior Jill Hutchinson had a goal and an assist while freshman Jordan Feger also scored a goal.
Hutchinson put the Deacs up with a goal in the first half on a shot from 25 yards out. Wake Forest added an insurance goal in the second half. Hutchinson played a beautiful pass to Feger, who scored from 12 yards out to put the Deacs up 2-0.
The Demon Deacons are back in action on Saturday, April 4, when they compete in the ACC Tournament. The event, which features Wake Forest, North Carolina, Duke, NC State and Virginia Tech, will be held at the BB&T Soccer Fields in Winston-Salem.
