Cronin, Parkhurst Start for U.S. Against Haiti

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Former Wake Forest men's soccer players Sam Cronin and Michael Parkhurst started and played the full 90 minutes for the United States Men's National Team in the team's 2-2 tie against Haiti on Saturday night in the final match of group play in the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
The start for Cronin marked his first appearance with the full U.S. National Team. Parkhurst earned his second consecutive start in the Gold Cup and his eighth appearance overall with the men's national team.
The U.S. took a 1-0 lead into halftime on Davy Arnaud's goal in the sixth minute. Haiti took the lead with two quick goals early in the second half. The Americans tied the game in second half stoppage time on Stuart Holden's strike from 25 yards out.
The tie gives the U.S. seven points and a first-place finish in Group B. The team next plays on Saturday, July 18 against the third place team from either Group A or Group C at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pa.
