WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - After a week of training, the Wake Forest women's soccer team takes the field for the first time in 2009 on Saturday night at 7 p.m., when it hosts Campbell in an exhibition match at Spry Stadium.
The match against Campbell will be the only exhibition for Wake Forest in the preseason. The team opens the regular season on Friday, August 21, against High Point.
Wake Forest has seven starters returning from the 2008 squad that advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and finished the season with a 13-8-0 record. The Deacs also have seven newcomers, who will look to see their first collegiate action on Saturday.
A member of the Atlantic Sun Conference, Campbell returns six starters and 12 letterwinners from its 2008 team that finished the season with a 5-10-3 overall record. Last season's leading scorer Kaili Terry returns, along with A-Sun All-Freshman player Olga Ekblom.
Admission for Saturday's exhibition match is free of charge.
