WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest sophomore forward Al-Farouq Aminu was selected as a preseason second team All-American by FoxSports.com on Wednesday.
Aminu is Wake Forest's leading returning scorer and rebounder after averaging 12.9 points and 8.2 rebounds per game as a freshman last season. The Norcross, Ga. native led all ACC freshmen in rebounding and was second in scoring in 2008-09. He posted 10 double-doubles, which was the fourth-most among all league players.
A five-time ACC Rookie of the Week honoree, Aminu was a unanimous selection to the ACC All-Freshman Team and was named a Freshman All-American by multiple publications.
Aminu is one of six players from the ACC selected to FoxSports.com's five-team preseason All-America list.
Aminu and the Deacons are set to open the 2009-10 campaign on Nov. 13 against Oral Roberts.
