WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's basketball team will face NC State on Friday, January 22, at 6:30 p.m. at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh. The game will be televised regionally on Fox Sports South.
Wake Forest is 11-7 and 2-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Demon Deacons upset No. 25 Miami last Sunday with a 67-64 win, the team's first ranked victory since November 2007. Junior forward Brittany Waters leads the team with 14.9 points per game and freshman center Sandra Garcia is the team's leading rebounder with 7.6 per game.
The Wake Forest rookie contingent has been turning heads so far in conference play. Freshman forward Asia Williams (Durham, N.C.), sophomore forward Secily Ray and Waters are averaging the team-best 5.3 rebounds per game against ACC opponents.
NC State is 11-7 and 1-2 in the ACC. The Wolfpack dropped a 74-71 heartbreaker to No. 16 Florida State last week in Tallahassee. Sophomore forward Bonae Holston leads NC State in scoring and rebounding with 11.7 ppg and 6.5 rpg.
Wake Forest will have a quick turnaround from Friday's action as they host Clemson on Sunday at 2 p.m.
