WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - With its non-conference schedule in the books, Wake Forest will return to ACC play on Saturday when the Demon Deacons head south to take on the Miami Hurricanes. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the BankUnited Center in Coral Gables. The game will be televised by ESPNU and is also available on the Wake Forest ISP Sports Radio Network.
The Deacons are 11-2 overall (1-0 ACC) following their thrilling 96-92 double overtime defeat of Xavier on Sunday in the inaugural game of the Skip Prosser Classic. The contest was Wake's second straight overtime game after picking up a 74-68 OT win over Richmond on Dec. 31.
Ishmael Smith had his best performance of the season to date on Sunday, scoring a career-high 28 points. Smith played all but one minute of the game and finished with 10 field goals, nine assists and three blocks.
Al-Farouq Aminu posted his ACC-leading ninth double-double with 26 points and 18 rebounds. Chas McFarland had 14 boards off the bench.
Wake Forest has won seven straight entering Saturday's game at Miami. The Deacons are beginning a stretch that sees them play three of their next four games on the road.
Miami comes in at 14-1 (0-1 ACC) on the year following an 86-63 win at Pepperdine on Sunday in Malibu. The Hurricanes, who are led by former Wake Forest assistant Frank Haith, have won six straight since opening ACC play with a loss at Boston College on Dec. 6.
Wake Forest leads the all-time series with Miami, 7-2. Last season, the Hurricanes defeated the Deacons, 79-52, in Coral Gables.
