Austin da Luz Signs Contract with MLS

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Former Wake Forest men's soccer standout Austin da Luz has signed a professional contract with Major League Soccer, becoming just one of five college seniors to sign pre-draft deals with the MLS.
Da Luz is among a group of Wake Forest players expected to be selected in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft, scheduled for Thursday, January 14, at 2 p.m. (ET) in Philadelphia. The draft will be aired live on ESPN2.
A native of Winston-Salem, da Luz led the ACC with 15 assists in 2009 and also finished second in the conference with 27 points. Da Luz led Wake Forest with eight game-winning assists and also added six goals. A 2009 All-ACC first team selection, da Luz ranked fourth nationally in assists per game.
For his career, da Luz scored 13 goals and 39 assists in 80 games played, including 44 starts. A 2009 NSCAA All-South region selection, da Luz leaves Wake Forest as the school's all-time career assists leader.
