
James Riley Wins MLS Goal of the Week

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Former Demon Deacon James Riley earned the MLS Goal of the Week after scoring his first goal of the season for the Seattle Sounders in the regular season finale against Houston.
Riley won the award after collecting 63 percent of the fan vote. He became the fifth Seattle Sounder to win the award this year. Riley's goal will now be up for MLS Goal of the Year.
The goal for Riley was his first of the season and second of his career. The Sounder defender blistered a shot from the outside edge of the penalty area into the upper right 90 of the goal to put Seattle in front 1-0.
Riley has started 27 games for the Sounders this season, scoring a goal and adding three assists. He has also helped Seattle to 11 shutouts on the year.
