Wake Forest Closes Homestand with Appalachian State

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's soccer team closes a stretch of three consecutive matches at home on Tuesday night when it hosts Appalachian State. Start time at Spry Stadium is set for 7 p.m.
Tickets for Tuesday's match are $6 and can be purchased in advance at WakeForestSports.com or on gameday at the stadium. Soccer season passes are $45 for adults and $25 for youth (3-18) and seniors (55+).
Fans that can't make it out to Tuesday's game can still catch all the action with a live webcast of the game through Wake Forest All-Access on WakeForestSports.com. Subscriptions to Wake Forest All-Access, which includes every home men's soccer game during the 2010 season, is $9.95 a month or $79.95 for the year. Live stats and a recap of the match will also be available on WakeForestSports.com.
The Deacs will be looking to put together back-to-back wins for the first time in the 2010 season on Tuesday night. Wake Forest is coming off a 2-0 win on Friday against conference-foe Virginia Tech. The Deacs got a goal 48 seconds into the match from Sam Redmond and Kyle Emerson doubled the lead with his first collegiate goal in the 83rd minute. Akira Fitzgerald earned his second shutout of the season against the Hokies, making three saves.
Andy Lubahn leads the Deacons with a team-high three goals and six points on the year. Luca Gimenez has scored two goals and added an assist, while Anthony Arena has also scored twice.
Fitzgerald has played every game in goal this season for Wake Forest, posting a 1.08 goals against average on the season. The Baltimore, Md., native has made 35 saves, while posting two clean sheets.
Appalachian State enters Tuesday's match with a 4-3-2 record. The Mountaineers snapped a two-game losing streak with a 1-0 win against Georgia Southern on Saturday.
ASU is led by Sean Dreybus, who leads the team with eight points on the season, scoring three goals and two assists. Steven Sassano has added a pair of goals, while also contributing one assist. Antonio Harley and Ryan Duffy each have two goals on the campaign.
The Mountaineers have used three different players in goal this season. Collin Taylor has played in six games, including five starts and has a 2-1-2 record with three shutouts and a 1.00 goals against average. Danny Free has started in three games and also has a 1.00 goals against average, while Drake Branson has played in two games, with one start, and has compiled a 2.08 GAA.
Wake Forest and Appalachian State are meeting for the 20th time in series history with the Demon Deacons holding a 17-2-0 advantage. The Deacs are 15-1-0 when facing the Mountaineers in Winston-Salem. Wake Forest has won 15 straight in the series, including a 1-0 win in the last meeting between the two schools in 2008.
