WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest will be looking for a season split with Miami when the Demon Deacons host the Hurricanes on Tuesday evening in Winston-Salem. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Lawrence Joel Coliseum. The game will be televised by ESPN2 and is also available on the Wake Forest ISP Sports Radio Network.
Miami picked up a 67-66 defeat of Wake Forest last month in Coral Gables. James Dews' putback with 28 seconds remaining allowed the Canes to nip the Deacons--a loss that snapped Wake's seven-game winning streak at the time.
The Deacons enter this matchup with the Hurricanes at 14-5 overall and 4-3 in the ACC following their 79-58 setback at No. 22-ranked Georgia Tech last Thursday in Atlanta. The Yellow Jackets broke open a close game with an early second-half run and never looked back.
Ishmael Smith led the way for Wake Forest with 12 points and a career-high five steals. Smith is the now the only player in the ACC to be ranked in the top four in the league in both assists (third) and steals (fourth).
Al-Farouq Aminu continues to produce, averaging 16.8 points and 11.3 rebounds per game. Aminu ranks fifth nationally with 13 double-doubles.
Miami comes in at 16-5 overall and 2-5 in the ACC after its 82-75 defeat of Virginia Tech on Sunday in Coral Gables. The win was the Hurricanes first in five games since defeating Wake Forest on Jan. 9.
Wake Forest leads the all-time series with Miami, 7-3. The Deacons are a perfect 4-0 against the Hurricanes at the Joel Coliseum.
Deacons Still Knocking on Door of AP Poll
Despite falling in its only game last week, Wake Forest is still just outside of the top 25 in the latest AP Poll. The Deacons received 31 points and were listed at No. 29 on Monday. Wake did not receive any votes in Monday's ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll.
