Wake Forest Turns Back Lady Eagles, 76-63

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's basketball team defeated NC Central 76-63 in the last non-conference game of the regular season on Monday night in Winston-Salem.
Mykala Walker led the Deacons with a career-high 15 points and NC Central's Joanna Miller led all scorers with 29. Asia Williams and Lady Eagle J'Mia Pollock each had the game-best eight rebounds.
Secily Ray added 11 points to the Demon Deacon total and Asia Williams and Courteney Morris each contributed 10.
Brooke Thomas opened scoring during the contest on Wake Forest's first possession and the Demon Deacons jumped out to a 16-0 lead before Joanna Miller got the Lady Eagles on the scoreboard with a jumper at 13:18.
Mykala Walker, who surpassed her career-high eight points in the first half, netted a free throw at 8:09 to give Wake Forest a 17 point lead, the team's largest advantage of the half.
NC Central went on a 10-4 run at the three minute mark to cut the Wake Forest advantage to 42-31 going into the halftime break.
With 9:40 to play in regulation Lakevia Boykin landed a layup to give the Deacs a 24-point lead, the team's largest of the game.
Wake Forest will wrap up the home season this Thursday with NC State at 7 p.m. before concluding the regular season on the road with Clemson on Sunday.
