WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest will try to make it a season sweep of Virginia when the Demon Deacons head to Charlottesville to face the Cavaliers. Tipoff is scheduled for noon at John Paul Jones Arena. The game will be televised regionally by Raycom and is also available on the Wake Forest ISP Sports Radio Network.
The Deacons posted a 69-57 win over the Cavaliers in the teams' first meeting of the year on Jan. 23. The victory snapped UVa's eight-game winning streak and handed the Cavaliers their first ACC loss of the season. Ishmael Smith led Wake with with 21 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Al-Farouq Aminu posted a double-double of 10 points and 10 boards.
The Deacons enter this matchup with the Cavaliers at 15-5 overall and 5-3 in the ACC following their 62-53 defeat of Miami on Tuesday in Winston-Salem. Wake Forest jumped out to a big lead early against Miami, going ahead by as many as 17 in the first half.
However, the Deacons needed their defense down the stretch to pull out the win. Wake held Miami to just a single point in the final five minutes after the Hurricanes had closed to within three at 55-52.
Virginia comes in at 14-6 overall and 5-2 in the ACC after its 59-47 defeat of NC State on Wednesday in Charlottesville. The Cavaliers have won two of three games since falling at Wake Forest last month.
Wake Forest leads the all-time series with Virginia, 67-59. The Deacons have won four straight over the Cavaliers, including a 70-60 win last season in the Deacons' most recent trip to Charlottesville.
Smith, Aminu Approaching Career Milestones
Ishmael Smith and Al-Farouq Aminu are nearing career milestones. Smith is 28 points shy of 1,000 for his career, while Aminu needs 24 more rebounds for 500. Smith is trying to become the second player in school history with 1,000 points and 500 assists.

Wake Forest will return home to host Boston College on Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 7 p.m. It will be the Deacons' only meeting with the Eagles this season. Wake will then host No. 21-ranked Georgia Tech on Saturday, Feb. 13, at 8 p.m.
