WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest will hold the first of its 15 spring practice dates on Tuesday, March 16. The team is expected to begin practice at 4:15 p.m. at the Doc Martin Football Practice Complex on the WFU campus.
Wake Forest will also practice on Thursday at 4:15 and on Saturday morning at 9:15 a.m. All practices this week will be at the Doc Martin Football Practice Complex.
One of the top priorities for head coach Jim Grobe and his staff will be to find a starting quarterback to replace Riley Skinner.
"We would love to pick the quarterback who will open the season for us but I think that they'll compete through the spring and continue to compete in August," said Grobe. "If we had a starter picked (coming out of spring football), we would all sleep better.
"A lot of people look at our offense as an area we need to improve but we have to get better on defense. We have lots of young guys with lots of athletic ability and it's time for them to stand up. We have to continue to get better.
"On offense, we're going to experiment with a few things. With Riley (Skinner), we've been a primarily throwing team. But we'll put in some wrinkles and try some things with the quarterbacks like running the ball that we couldn't do with Riley."
Wake Forest will generally practice on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The spring season will conclude with the spring game on Saturday, April 17 at BB&T Field.
