WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest completed its seventh spring practice session on Tuesday afternoon at the Doc Martin Football Practice Complex on campus. The Demon Deacons donned full pads for the two-hour workout.
As Wake Forest nears the mid-point of its 15-session spring slate, the coaching staff has been installing a good amount of new material on both sides of the ball, resulting in a number of missteps along the way.
Despite the mistakes, head coach Jim Grobe still likes the effort and spirit of his squad thus far.
"We've put a lot in--a lot of offense and a lot of defense--so there's been a lot of mental mistakes," said Grobe. "But most of what we're looking at is attitude-type stuff. We're looking at effort. We don't have a lot of kids taking lazy steps right now. I think we have good energy on our football team right now.
"As we go through spring, with today and Thursday and then a break for Easter, I think we'll come back and probably know a lot more in the second half of spring practice."
The Deacons will be back at it on Thursday afternoon with a full workout scheduled for 4:15 p.m. on campus. The team will then have the weekend off for the Easter holiday before resuming action next Tuesday, April 6.
Wake Forest's annual is scheduled for Saturday, April 17, at BB&T Field.
