Wake Forest Ranked 10th in NSCAA Preseason Poll

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's soccer team is ranked 10th in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America preseason poll, released on Tuesday. It is the highest that Wake Forest has ever been ranked by the NSCAA in the preseason.
The Deacons return five starters and 16 letterwinners from the 2009 squad that reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history. The Deacons finished the reason ranked eighth in the final 2009 NSCAA poll.
Senior midfielder Bianca D'Agostino is the team's top returning scorer from last year's team, notching two goals and six assists while playing in all 24 games. Also returning are midfielder Casey Luckhurst, who led the returnees with three goals last season, defender Jackie Logue, who appeared in all 24 games in her rookie season, and sophomore defender Alisha Woodson.
The Wake Forest men's soccer team was picked third in the NSCAA preseason rankings, making Wake Forest one of three schools, along with North Carolina and UCLA, to have both its men's and women's teams ranked in the Top 10.
Joining Wake Forest as ACC teams in the Top 25 were North Carolina, which grabbed the top overall spot in the poll, No. 6 Florida State, No. 7 Boston College, No. 15 Virginia, No. 16 Maryland, and No. 17 Virginia.
The Demon Deacons also face No. 12 South Carolina during the regular season meaning that eight of their 2010 foes are ranked in the Top 25.
Wake Forest will take the field for the first time this year in an exhibition game against No. 24 West Virginia on Saturday, August 14 at 1 p.m. at Spry Stadium.
