WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest will open its 109th season of football by hosting FCS foe Presbyterian. The game is set to kickoff at 6:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live online via ESPN3.com. The game is also available on the Wake Forest ISP Sports Radio Network.

The Demon Deacons are coming off a 2009 campaign that saw them finish 5-7 overall and 3-5 in the ACC. Wake Forest, which lost five games by three points or less last year, failed to qualify for a bowl game for the first time in four seasons.

Wake Forest returns 48 letterwinners, including a total of 16 starters, off last year's squad. However, the 2010 campaign will represent the beginning of a new era in Deacon football as the team breaks in a new starting quarterback. Four-year starter Riley Skinner graduated last year, leaving the Deacs without a single quarterback on the roster who has attempted a pass.

The Deacons welcome the Presbyterian Blue Hose to town for the Thursday night opener. Presbyterian is led by second-year head coach Harold Nichols. Entering their fourth season at the FCS level, the Blue Hose went 0-11 overall and 0-6 in the Big South Conference last season. PC will travel to play ACC foe Clemson next weekend in Death Valley.

Quickie Notes
- Redshirt sophomore Ted Stachitas appears to have earned the starting role at quarterback for the opening game. Stachitas was 14-of-22 for 302 yards in three preseason scrimmages.
- Jim Grobe enters his 10th year as Wake Forest's head coach, putting him second in school history in longevity. Grobe enters the season with a 59-51 all-time record.

Next Up...
Wake Forest will open ACC play next Saturday when it welcomes Duke to BB&T Field for a noon kickoff. The Deacons have won the last 10 meetings with the Blue Devils. Wake will then prepare for its longest road trip of the season as it heads to Palo Alto, Calif. to take on Stanford the following Saturday, Sept. 18.
