STANFORD, Calif. - Wake Forest fell 68-24 to No. 19 Stanford at Stanford Stadium on Saturday.

The Demon Deacons fall to 2-1 on the season while the Cardinal improve to 3-0.

Stanford scored on its first possession of the game and never looked back, racking up 535 yards of total offense. Cardinal quarterback Andrew Luck completed 17 of 23 passes for four touchdowns and also rushed for a 52-yard touchdown.

Deacon quarterback Tanner Price rushed for 65 yards and a touchdown, in addition to throwing for 76 yards. Michael Campanaro rushed for a career-high 41 yards and scored his first career touchdown on a 22-yard reverse in the third quarter.

Chris Givens led the team in receptions, catching four passes for 47 yards while also rushing for 25 yards and a touchdown.

Cyhl Quarles led the team with eight tackles, tying a career high.

Kicker Jimmy Newman nailed a career-long 48-yard field goal in the second quarter is now 4-of-6 in his career on field goal attempts of 40-49 yards.

Stanford struck first on their opening possession, driving 61 yards to take a 7-0 lead on 8-yard pass from Luck to Chris Owusu at the 9:12 mark of the first quarter.

The Demon Deacons answered back on the ensuing possession, going 80 yards in less than three minute to tie the score at 7-7. Chris Givens finished off the drive with a 22-yard touchdown run on an end around - the longest run of his career and first career rushing touchdown.

The frenetic scoring continued on the next Stanford drive. Usua Amanam returned the kickoff 60 yards to the Wake Forest 38-yard line, and two plays later, Luck again found Owusu for a 35-yard touchdown to put the Cardinal ahead 14-7.

Stanford increased its lead to 21-7 with a 72-yard drive that ended on an 4-yard touchdown run from Tyler Gaffney.

Early in the second quarter Stanford was given a short field and the Cardinal capitalized, going 27 yards on two plays, finished by a 12-yard pass from Luck to Amanam, but Nate Whitaker's PAT kick failed, making the score 27-7.

The Cardinal increased its lead to 34-7 on a 52-yard scramble by Luck with 7:42 to play in the second quarter.

Stanford scored again with 2:50 remaining in the half, going 64 yards, capped off by a 2-yard rush by Gaffney to make the score 41-7.

Wake Forest cut the lead to 34-10 on a career-long 48-yard field goal from Jimmy Newman with :04 to go in the half.

The Cardinal responded on their first drive of the second half, marching 62 yards in 3:01 to extend its lead to 48-10, with the score coming on a 9-yard rush by Stepfan Taylor.

Stanford extended its advantage to 55-10 on a 3-yard pass from Luck to Doug Baldwin early in the third quarter.

The Deacons picked up a score at the 8:45 mark of the quarter as Price scampered for a 28-yard touchdown to make the score 55-17.

Michael Campanaro scored his first career touchdown on a 22-yard touchdown run on a reverse at the end of the third quarter to make the score 55-24.

Stanford added on another score midway through the fourth quarter on 15-yard rush by quarterback Alex Loukas, but a missed PAT left the score at 61-24. The Cardinal struck again moments later with another TD to extend their lead 68-24.

The Deacons will return to action next Saturday against Florida State in Tallahassee, Fla. Kickoff is slated for 3:30 p.m. The game will be televised on ABC and can also be heard on the Wake Forest ISP Sports Radio Network.
