- Wake Forest will wrap up the non-conference portion of its schedule by hosting Triad-rival High Point on Wednesday, Jan. 5, at 7 p.m. The game will be streamed live online at WakeForestSports.com. The Deacons will open ACC play at NC State on Saturday, Jan. 8, at 2:30 p.m.
Wake Forest Team Notes:
- Key Run: Down 62-49 after a Steven Gray 3-pointer with 8:54 remaining, Ty Walker jump started a 9-0 Demon Deacon run with a fastbreak layup at the 7:32 mark. J.T. Terrell capped the run with 4:47 on the clock with a 3-pointer that cut the lead to four at 62-58.
- Key Stat: Gonzaga held a significant advantage in field goal percentage, shooting 50.0 percent from the field (26-for-52). Wake Forest shot only33.9 percent from the field (19-for-56). The discrepancy was largely due to scoring inside, as the Bulldogs outscored the Demon Deacons 42-16 in the paint.
- Today marks just the third time this season that Wake Forest has won the turnover battle. The Deacs forced the Bulldogs into 19 turnovers and committed just 13 themselves. The two previous games in which the Demon Deacons won the TO battle was a 81-59 win over Marist on Nov. 23 and a 66-64 loss to Presbyterian on Dec. 21.
- The Demon Deacons kept themselves in the game with a solid performance from the free throw line. Wake ended the game shooting 77.8 percent from the line, connecting on 21-of-27 attempts.
- Gonzaga's Demetri Goodson is the first Wake Forest opponent to foul out in a game this season.
