MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Former Wake Forest women's soccer player Sarah Kate Noftsinger has been hired as the first commissioner of the Elite Clubs National League, one of the top girls youth soccer leagues in the country.
She will be responsible for the day-to-day management, operations and logistics for the league as well as marketing and sponsor development.
"I am very excited about tackling the challenges that this job presents," said Noftsinger in a release. "I am committed to the growth and development of high-level women's soccer and I believe that the ECNL is well-positioned to become the destination of the best players and coaches in America. I believe that the playing, training and coaching standards of the ECNL will lead to the development of a generation of soccer players who play attractive, exciting soccer and take the women's game into a more successful and visible future."
Noftsinger played at Wake Forest from 1998-2001, earning All-ACC honors in her senior season and totaling 12 goals and 13 assists in her career. After leaving Wake, she played for the Washington Freedom of the WUSA, becoming the first Wake Forest female athlete drafted to play professionally.
Noftsinger also spent time as an assistant coach of the Stanford women's soccer team and most recently worked for TRIAD Trust, an organization that uses sports to increase AIDS education and awareness in Africa.
