WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's soccer team is ranked fourth in this week's NSCAA Poll, marking the highest-ever ranking in the program's 18-year history.
The defending ACC champion Demon Deacons hold an 11-1-2 overall record, the best start in school history, and are unbeaten in ACC play at 4-0-2, good for second place in the conference standings. The Deacs have been especially hot of late, holding an 8-0-2 record in their last 10 matches - tied for the longest unbeaten streak in school history.
Wake Forest boasts a strong defense that has only allowed six goals all year, with goalkeeper Aubrey Bledsoe's 0.41 goals against average ranking as the ninth-best in all of Division I. Prolific sophomore forward Katie Stengel leads all ACC players with 13 goals and 30 points this season.
The Demon Deacons will face a road challenge this weekend when they travel to take on No. 10 North Carolina in Chapel Hill on Sunday at 1 p.m. Wake Forest's final home match of the season will come next Thursday, Oct. 20 when it hosts No. 3 Duke at 7 p.m. at Spry Stadium in a game that will be televised on ESPN3.
