With The Loss
• Wake Forest had its four-game winning streak snapped.
• The Deacons fall to 4-2 overall and 3-1 in the ACC.
• Jim Grobe's record stands at 99-95-1 for his career and 66-62 in 11 years at Wake Forest.
• Wake Forest has lost its fifth consecutive game to Virginia Tech and its eighth straight at home to the Hokies.
• Wake Forest falls to 35-42-2 all-time in Homecoming games.
• Under Jim Grobe, Wake Forest is now 15-7 in home night games.

• The Demon Deacons have received the ball first in all six games this season.
• Wake has also scored first in all six games.

Fast Start Not Common Against Tech
• Wake Forest's 10-0 advantage in the first quarter marked the first 10-point quarter by Wake Forest vs. Virginia Tech since the fourth quarter of the 1983 game, a span of 16 quarters.
• It also marked the first time Wake Forest had outscored VT by 10 or more points since a 11-0 advantage in the fourth quarter of the 1982 game.

Pendergrass Seizes His Opportunity
• Senior running back Brandon Pendergrass made his first start of the season on Saturday and made the most of the opportunity.
• He finished with season-high 80 yards on 21 carries. His previous season-high was 49 yards in the win over Gardner-Webb.
• That is the most yards rushing for Pendergrass since Nov. 28, 2008, when he carried the ball 27 times for a career-high 110 yards.

Price Still Racking-Up The Yards
• Despite the loss, sophomore quarterback Tanner Price continued to rack-up the passing yards. Price finished the day 19 of 33 for 254 yards and two touchdowns.
• His 254 passing yards on the night were the most ever for a Demon Deacon against Virginia Tech.
• Price has thrown for at least 233 years in each of the first six games and he has also completed at least 18 passes in each game.

The Beat Goes On
• Junior Chris Givens continued his hot start to the season, making seven more catches in the game for 140 yards.
• His seven catches and 140 yards are both Demon Deacon records against Virginia Tech.
• He has now caught at least one pass in each of the last 21 games he has played.
• Givens caught a 79-yard TD reception in the first quarter. That was the longest reception of the year for the Deacs.
• He has now caught a touchdown pass in four-straight games.
• Givens has caught at least six passes in each of the first six games and now has five 100-yard receiving games on the year.
• For his career, Givens is ninth in school history with 1,882 career yards and is 12th with 120 career receptions.

Ford Makes Himself Heard
• Senior Cameron Ford caught his first career touchdown pass with 2:04 to play in the third quarter. The catch came on 4th and goal from the four yard line and brought the Deacs to within 11 points, 28-17.
• The reception was Ford's first since the opening game of the season when he made three grabs against Syracuse.

Jimmy Newman Keeps His Streak Alive
Jimmy Newman connected on a 28-yard field goal in the first quarter which was his 11th-straight made field goal.
• Newman last missed a field goal in the season-opener at Syracuse.
• Newman has converted 24 of his last 25 field goal attempts dating back to the 2010 season opener.

Big Night With The Boot
• Sophomore punter Alex Wulfeck had the best night of his career punting. He punted seven times for an average of 43.0 yards.
• He connected on a career-high 49-yard punt in the second quarter. His previous career-high was a 45-yard boot in the win over Florida State.

Defensive Highs
• Senior Cyhl Quarles and sophomore Mile Olson both tied career-highs for tackles in the game Saturday night.
• Quarles finished with a game-high 12 tackles and one pass breakup.
• Olson had seven stops on the night and one quarterback hurry.

Miscellaneous Notes
• Wake Forest captains were seniors Brandon Pendergrass and Josh Bush.
• Virginia Tech won the toss and deferred. Wake Forest received the opening kickoff for the sixth-straight game.
Dennis Godfrey returned to the starting line-up after a three-game absence.
