WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest will begin a two-weekend trip down Tobacco Road when the Demon Deacons travel to Durham to take on the Duke Blue Devils on Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is slated for 12:30 p.m. The game will be televised on the ACC Network and can also be heard on the Wake Forest Sports Network from IMG College.
The Deacons will play at North Carolina the following weekend to complete thei in-state seasona after already defeating NC State last month in Winston-Salem. This marks the first season since 2007 that Wake Forest has played all three of its Big Four rivals.
Wake Forest (4-2, 3-1 ACC) is coming off a 38-17 home loss to Virginia Tech. The setback snapped the Deacons' four-game winning streak and gave Wake its first blemish in conference play.
Things looked promising for the Deacons early on against the Hokies, as Wake Forest built a 10-0 first-quarter lead. The Deacons held the Hokies without a first down and outgained the visitors 138-8 during the opening quarter. Tanner Price and Chris Givens hooked up on a 79-yard TD pass to ignite the offense.
However, Virginia Tech fought back with 21 points in the second quarter and never looked back. The Hokies held the Deacons to just 1-for-13 on third-down attempts, as Wake Forest found it difficult to put together long scoring drives.
Duke (3-3, 1-1 ACC) is also coming off a home loss that snapped a sizable winning streak. The Blue Devils were upended, 41-16, by Florida State last weekend. The loss ended Duke's three-game winning streak.
