With the Win

  • Wake Forest improves to 3-0 in the ACC for the first time in the 58-year history of the league
  • Wake Forest is 4-1 overall for the first time since 2008
  • It is Wake Forest's best start since going 5-0 in 2006
  • Wake Forest is 4-1 for the seventh time in school history. The other 4-1 starts were in 1946, 1947, 1951, 1959, 1979 and 2008.
  • Wake Forest ended a string of five straight losses vs. ranked opponents
  • Wake Forest has defeated a ranked opponent for the first time since beating Florida State 12-3 in 2008
  • Wake Forest is now 20-110-1 all-time against ranked opponents

Offensive Breakout vs. Florida State

  • The 35 points scored on Saturday is the most points Wake Forest has even scored against Florida State.
  • The previous high mark was a 30-0 win at Florida State in the Deacons' ACC Championship season in 2006.

Pass-and-Catch Camp

  • Sophomore Michael Campanaro threw a TD pass to Terence Davis in the second quarter, his second passing TD of 2011 (also threw a 40-yard TD to Dembry at home versus NC State on 9/10).
  • He is now 3-of-3 throwing the ball for 106 yards, two TDs and a pass efficiency of 616.8.
  • As a receiver against FSU, Campanaro caught four balls for 60 yards.

The Price Is Still Right

  • Sophomore QB Tanner Price began the game 230 yards from equaling his passing totals from all of 2010. He had 138 yards in the first half, and finished the game with 233 yards.
  • His 22-yard TD to Chris Givens was his eighth throwing TD of the season, giving him one more than his total of seven from all of 2010.
  • Tanner Price is off to the second-best start to a season of any Wake Forest quarterback. With his 233 passing yards on Saturday, Price now has 1,342 yards on the season. That is second only to Mike Elkins who recorded 1,358 yards in the first five games of the 1986 season.

They Call Him 'TD'

  • Redshirt junior Terence Davis has caught passes in all five games this season, including a pair of touchdown passes today. His first was a 30-yard reception in the second quarter from Michael Campanaro. The second was an 8-yard strike from Tanner Price in the fourth quarter.
  • He now has four touchdown receptions in his career and this is his first multi-touchdown game of his career.

Bohanon Finds Pay Dirt

  • Junior FB Tommy Bohanon caught his second career TD pass, a two-yarder with 9:11 to go in the third quarter. It was his first since Oct. 24, 2009 at Navy.

Defend Like A Demon - Wake's Big Play Defense

  • The Wake Forest defense forced five turnovers on Saturday, including four interceptions.
  • Redshirt junior LB Joey Ehrmann made his second career interception and returned it 50 yards in the first quarter.
  • Ehrmann also opened the second half with a huge play, taking down Jermaine Thomas in the FSU end zone for Wake Forest's first defensive safety since Nov. 2, 2008 versus Duke.
  • Justin Jackson forced his first career fumble in the second quarter, Kyle Wilber picked up the ball for his third career fumble recovery.
  • Redshirt freshman Zachary Allen snagged his first career interception on a tipped pass in the second quarter.
  • Freshmen cornerback Merrill Noel recorded his first career interception in the third quarter. Noel also finished the day with a team-high eight tackles.
  • Josh Bush recorded the fourth Demon Deacon interception on the day in the fourth quarter. That was his third interception of the year and the fourth of his career.
  • After forcing one turnover in each of its first three games, the Wake Forest defensive unit has had multi-takeaway performances in the last two weeks. The Deacs had a fumble recovery and interception in the BC win and took the ball away from the Seminoles five times.

Wiber Does It Again

  • Redshirt senior Kyle Wilber recorded a sack for the third straight game, taking down E.J. Manuel in the third quarter. He now has 13 career sacks.

Chris Givens Keeps Climbing The Charts

  • Junior wide receiver Chris Givens caught six passes for 101 yards in the win on Saturday.
  • Givens now has 1,742 receiving yards in his career and has moved into 10th place in school history.
  • He also moved to 14th all-time with 113 career receptions.
  • The 100-yard receiving game is the seventh of his career.
  • Givens' 22 yard receiving TD with 1:57 to go in the second quarter was his fifth of the season. He has now caught TD balls in three straight games and four-of-five games this season.
  • His 40-yard catch in the second quarter was his fourth-longest play from scrimmage this season and put him at 541 receiving yards for the season - surpassing his 514 receiving yards from all of 2010.
  • Givens has now caught a pass in each of the last 20 games he's played.

Givens Off To Record Start

  • With his 101 receiving yards in the game, Givens has crushed the best five-game start in school history. Givens has 599 yards on the season, besting Ricky Proehl's previous mark of 470 yards in 1988.

Quarles Continues to Play Stopper

  • Wake's leading tackler coming into the game, senior Cyhl Quarles had three stops on the opening FSU drive and finished the day with seven stops.
  • He now has a total of 41 tackles on the year.

Josh Harris Enters Club 1,000

  • Sophomore Josh Harris became the 35th member of the 1,000 yard club with an eight yard carry on the last Wake Forest play of the first quarter. He entered the game with 204 career carries for 996 yards.
  • Harris finished the day with 136 yards, eclipsing the 100 yard mark for the first time in 2011.
  • His 42 yard run in the third quarter was a season long. Harris' previous long carry was for 21 yards against NC State on 9/10.

Newman Keeps FG Streak Alive

  • Extended his streak of made field goals to 10 with a pair of field goals against FSU. The first was a 27-yarder in the first quarter and the second was a 32-yarder in the fourth quarter.
  • He previously had a streak of 13 makes snapped in the season opener at Syracuse.

Deacs Want The Ball First

  • Wake Forest won the toss for the third-straight game and elected to receive. The Deacons have now received the ball first in all five games this season.
  • The Deacs have scored on their first possession in three of the five games.

Miscellaneous Notes

  • Wake Forest won the toss for the third consecutive week and opted to receive.
  • Game captains: Kyle Wilber and Joe Looney.
  • Wake Forest finished the first quarter with -2 rushing yards and did not have positive rushing yardage at halftime (-1 yards). The Deacs remained in negative territory until Josh Harris broke a 42-yarder in the third quarter. Wake finished the game with 128 rushing yards, which was 18 yards more than Florida State.
  • FSU's first quarter rushing touchdown by James Wilder Jr. was the first allowed by Wake Forest since Sept. 1 at Syracuse, snapping a streak of three straight games - all WFU wins - without allowing a running score.
  • Wake Forest's Chris Givens, Danny Dembry and Terence Davis have each caught at least one pass in every game this season. Michael Campanaro missed one game with a hamstring injury, but has hauled in a pass in every game he has played.
