Luca Gimenez Named to ACC All-Tournament Squad

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest men's soccer's Luca Gimenez was named to the 2011 ACC All-Tournament Team, announced the conference on Sunday, November 13.
Gimenez was instrumental in leading a late Wake charge in the quarterfinals against Virginia, tallying twice in the second half to help Wake Forest force overtime. It was the sophomore's second career multi-goal match and his first since Oct. 22 at NC State. He leads the Deacs with six goals on the season and is tied for the team lead in points with 13.
The forward is the first Wake player to receive the honor since current junior Andy Lubahn and since-graduated Zach Schilawski were tabbed after 2009's final.
Ben Speas of ACC champion North Carolina was named the MVP of the tournament, which had five players nominated to the squad. Runner-up Boston College placed four student-athletes on the team, while Virginia had two.
The Deacons ultimately fell in double overtime to end their ACC tournament run of play, but could still have more soccer ahead. The 2011 NCAA Tournament Selection Show is set for Monday, Nov. 14 at 4:30 p.m. and will air on NCAA.com.
