WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - After finishing the 2011 regular season with six wins, the Wake Forest football team is bowl-bound for the first time since 2008. The Demon Deacons will learn their postseason destination on Sunday. Fans can check back to WakeForestSports.com for the official announcement that evening.
Wake Forest finished the season 6-6 overall and 5-3 in the ACC. The Deacons were a win over Clemson away from playing in today's ACC Championship game in Charlotte. Still, Wake Forest finished second in the ACC Atlantic Division, a great improvement from last year's sixth-place showing.
The ACC has eight bowl tie-ins for 2011, and Wake Forest will be heading off to play at one of the conference's bowl partners.
The Deacons are making their first postseason appearance since winning the inaugural EagleBank Bowl (now the Military Bowl) in 2008. Wake Forest has won each of its past two bowl games, as well as five of its past six bowl appearances since the 1992 Independence Bowl.
Current ACC bowl partners that the Deacons have previously played in include the Advocare Independence Bowl (1992), the Discover Orange Bowl (2007), the Belk Bowl (2007 when it was the Meineke Car Care Bowl) and the Military Bowl (2008 when it was the EagleBank Bowl).
Once the Deacons' bowl destination has been set, be sure to check back to WakeForestSports.com for all ticket and travel information.
