KENNESAW, Ga. - Wake Forest midfielder Kristen Meier was voted to the NCAA Women's Soccer All-Tournament Team after notching a goal and an assist in the Demon Deacons' quarterfinal win over UCF that sent the team to its first-ever College Cup.
After missing Wake Forest's tournament opener against Oakland with an injury, Meier played in all four of the Deacons' remaining tournament games, starting the final three. The Alpharetta, Ga. native is the first-ever Wake Forest player to be named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team.
The All-Tournament honors are the culmination of the best season in Meier's career, which saw her tie for the team lead with a career-high eight assists - a number that is tied for the fifth-most in Wake Forest history. Meier also scored twice this season to rank third on the team with 12 points.
The Demon Deacons fell to Duke in the semifinals of the College Cup. The Blue Devils were then defeated by Stanford in the national championship game.
Wake Forest ended the most successful season in program history at 18-4-4. Meier is one of the 11 starters that will return next year.
