WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's soccer team could not find the back of the net in its first intercollegiate scrimmage of the spring, falling 1-0 to High Point on Wednesday at Spry Stadium.
The Panthers scored in the 70th minute off of a set piece, and it proved to be all that they would need to earn the win.
The Deacs had a few good chances to even the score but could not convert. Amanda Howell pushed a free header just wide of the left post and Katie Stengel cracked a shot off the cross bar.
"I was very disappointed that we put on such an uninspiring performance," said head coach Tony da Luz. "We didn't do a good job of generating chances, and when we did get chances, we couldn't finish them."
