WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest head football coach Jim Grobe was honored last week by the Hanes Hosiery Community Center as a "Living Legend" as part of the center's 21st annual "Hang The Net" celebration.
Grobe was presented with the award by center direct and event founder, Art Blevins. Grobe addressed the crowd as part of the ceremony.
Former NFL player and Winston-Salem native Germane Crowell was also honored at the event. Crowell, a wide receiver, played five seasons with the Detroit Lions from 1998-2002.
The event serves as a summer celebration for the children at Hanes Hosiery and other recreation centers in the city. The event also includes a celebrity three-point shooting contest, which featured competitors of local media personalities Cameron Kent, John Dell and Danny Harnden among others.
The Hanes Hosiery Community Center is located just east of campus on Reynolds Blvd.
