WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. The Wake Forest women's soccer team started off preseason camp with a unique team-building activity when they gathered together at Spry Stadium to repaint the fences and railings around that surround the stadium and practice field.
The 28 players, along with the coaching staff, managed to finish the paint job in three two-hour sessions. While they were giving their stadium a new finish, the Demon Deacons also had a chance to get to know the new faces on the team.
"It's great for our girls to be able to take a little bit of ownership of their stadium," said head coach Tony da Luz. "It was a fun way for everybody to get to know each other a little bit better, and it really made Spry Stadium look a lot better for the upcoming season."
The Demon Deacons, who enter the season ranked No. 18 in the country by the NSCAA, have one more exhibition remaining on Sunday at VCU before they will travel to open the regular season at Auburn on Aug. 19. Wake's first home match of the year will come on Sept. 2 against Connecticut at 6 p.m. as part of the Wake Forest Nike Challenge.
