WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest football team was welcomed to the practice field Thursday afternoon by extremely warm and humid temperatures. The Deacs practice at the Doc Martin Practice Complex in shells for just over two hours.
Wake held its final scrimmage of the preseason on Wednesday and shifted its efforts towards preparing for Syracuse. The Deacs started their typical game week activities on Thursday. Practice was geared toward implementing the game plan for Syracuse.
The first and second string offense and defense split time running reps against each other as well as the scout team. The depth chart seemed to be pretty much set as the coaches were spending more time installing the game plan and not focusing on whose is going to fill each position.
The Deacs were originally scheduled to hold its final two-a-day practice on Friday but has changed that schedule. The team will take its annual team photo in the morning and then hold one practice from 3-5 p.m., Friday afternoon.
Wake will practice again on Saturday morning before having an off-day on Sunday. The team will then practice twice more on Monday and Tuesday before heading to Syracuse on Wednesday. The Deacs will open the season Thursday evening in the Carrier Dome against the Orangemen at 8 p.m.
