Campanaro Was Brilliant In Limited Time
- Sophomore Michael Campanaro finished with a career-high 93 receiving yards. He has now set career-highs for receiving yardage in each of the first two games to begin the season.
- The 31-yard first quarter TD reception by Campanaro was the longest catch of his career and it was his second career TD. Both of his receiving touchdowns have come this season.
- Campanaro's also attempted and completed his first career pass in the second quarter. It went for a 40-yard TD to Danny Dembry.
- Campanaro became the first Deacon since Marshall Williams vs. Duke in 2010 to throw and catch a TD pass in the same game.
- His 40-yard TD pass to Dembry marked the fourth TD pass by a Wake Forest non-quarterback in the last four years. WR DJ Boldin threw one in 2008, WR Marshall Williams two in 2010 and Campanaro today.
- Campanaro did not return in the second half after suffering an injury to his right hamstring.
Givens Keeps The Streak Alive
- Wide receiver Chris Givens caught six passes for 111 yards. It was the 17th-straight game that the Wylie, Texas, native has caught a pass.
- This marked the second-straight game in which he went over 100 yards in receiving. That's the second time that has happened in his career and it was the fifth 100-yard receiving game of his career.
- Givens' 12-yard first quarter reverse was his first rush of 2011 season. Dembry With a Career Day
- Senior wide receiver Danny Dembry had a career-high six receptions for career-high 96 yards receiving. Dembry's previous career-highs were four catches and was 51 yards against Navy on October 9, 2010.
- He also caught his second career TD and it came on his longest career reception. It was a 40-yard pitch and catch with Tanner Price in the second quarter.
- Dembry also scored on a 10-yard run in the third quarter, his first career rushing TD and first career two score day.
Harris Nears 100 Yards On The Ground
- Sophomore Josh Harris finished the game with 96 yards on 23 carries.
- Harris had a 15-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. It was his first TD of the 2011 season. His last touchdown was also a 15-yarder and came in the Deacons' season-ending win over Vanderbilt on November 27, 2010.
- Harris hauled in his first reception of 2011 on a six-yard shovel pass in the first quarter.
Price Continues To Shine
- Sophomore Tanner Price finished the game 22-of-35 for 297 yards and one touchdown. The 35 pass attempts was the second-highest total of his career. He attempted 37 passes against Navy on Oct. 9, 2010.
- Price had his streak of 134-straight passes without an interception broken in the fourth quarter. His last interception came against Boston College on Nov. 6, 2010.
- Price completed a pass to seven different receivers and had three receivers finish with over 90 yards.
Defensive Notes
- After recording just one tackle last week against Syracuse, senior Kyle Wilber recorded a season-high seven stops and also forced one fumble.
- Riley Haynes finished the game with a career high 10 tackles. He also also had his first career tackle for loss on a critical third and one in the second quarter.
- Josh Bush's interception in the 3rd quarter was the second of his career. His first career INT came against the Wolfpack as well in a 30-24 Wake Forest win at BB&T Field on October 3, 2009.
- Bush's INT was the first of the season for Wake Forest and second turnover forced by the Demon Deacon defense in 2011.
Miscellaneous Notes
- Redshirt freshman Matt James recorded his first career catch for five-yards in the second quarter.
- Merril Noel had his first career kickoff return for 13-yards in the second quarter
- Jimmy Newman kickoff to begin second half was a touchback, the first of the season for the Deacs.
- Alex Wulfeck had a 44-yard punt in the third quarter. That was a career-long for the sophomore.
- Jordan Garside returned a third quarter kick eight yards for his first-ever return.
- The first quarter scoring drive for the Deacons of nine plays for 80 yards was the longest of season.
- Wake Forest captains are DE Tristan Dorty and OT Doug Weaver
- Wake Forest baseball coach Tom Walter and CF Kevin Jordan were the Open the Gate guests
