WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's soccer team will host the fourth annual Genna Wiley Memorial Match on Saturday, October 1, when the Demon Deacons face off with ACC rival Virginia Tech at Spry Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
In conjunction with the match, Wake Forest will adorn pink Nike jerseys, a color symbolic of the fight against breast cancer. Fans will have the opportunity to bid on these special game-worn jerseys during a silent auction that will be held during the game. Pink rally towels will be distributed at the event and fans will also have a chance to win several other prizes, courtesy of Wake Forest athletics and Susan G. Komen for the Cure. All proceeds from the game will be donated to the North Carolina Triad affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.
Last year's jersey auction raised $2,680 for the North Carolina Triad affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
The match honors the late wife of former Wake Forest trainer Steve Wiley. After a long battle with breast cancer, Genna passed less than a week after the Demon Deacons won the national championship in 2007.
Tickets for the match against Virginia Tech are $6. To order tickets, contact the Wake Forest ticket office at (336) 758-3322, 1-888-758-DEAC or purchase online at WakeForestSports.com. Tickets will also be available on match day at the Spry Stadium box office.
