WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest will get back into ACC play on Saturday when it travels to Alumni Stadium to take on Boston College. The Demon Deacons and the Eagles are set to kick off at 12:30 p.m. The game will be televised on the ACC Network and can also be heard on the Wake Forest Sports Network from IMG College.
The Deacons (2-1, 1-0) are riding a two-game winning streak and come into Saturday's game well-rested after a bye week. Wake opened the ACC season with a win over NC State (Sept. 10) and then rolled that momentum into a 48-5 victory over Gardner-Webb (Sept. 17).
Offensively, sophomore quarterback Tanner Price could not have gotten off to a better start. He is 61 of 98 for 867 yards and six touchdowns. The 867 passing yards are the second-most yards through the first three games in school-history. He has also thrown for over 280 yards in each of the first three contests.
Price's favorite target thus far has been junior Chris Givens. Givens has caught 20 passes for 366 yards which is the most receiving yards in the first three games of a season in school-history. The Wylie, Texas, native has also scored three touchdowns.
Defensively, senior safety Cyhl Quarles has led the team in tackles in each of the first three games. Quarles has made a total of 27 stops and has recorded one pass breakup.
The Demon Deacon defense is coming off a strong performance against Gardner-Webb in which it allowed just 139 total yards and held the Runnin' Bulldogs to less than a yard per carry.
Quickie Notes
- Wake Forest will be looking for its first ACC win at Alumni Stadium on Saturday. The last time the Demon Deacons beat BC in Boston was in 2003 when the Eagles were still a member of the Big East.
- QB Tanner Price has opened the season with three-consecutive games of at least 280 yards passing. He is looking to tie Wake Forest's all-time leading passer Riley Skinner who put together a streak of four-straight 280-yard passing games just once in his career.
Next Up...
The Demon Deacons will return home to host Atlantic Division rival Florida State on Oct. 8. Wake has won three out of the last five meetings with the Seminoles. The Deacs will then enjoy Homecoming Weekend on Oct. 15, as they welcome Virginia Tech to BB&T Field.
