Josh Bush - Jets
The New York Jets took center stage on Monday as they challenged the undefeated Houston Texans. The Texans took a 17-7 lead going into the half after kicking a field goal in the final seconds. Jets' quarterback Mark Sanchez led the offense in the second half by scoring 10 points, but the comeback was not enough as the Texans won 23-17. The Jets fell to 2-3 on the year for the second consecutive season. Bush filled his usual role on special teams for the Jets this week but did not record any statistics. The Jets travel to Indianapolis on Sunday to take on the 2-2 Colts.
Tyson Clabo - Falcons
The undefeated Atlanta Falcons played host to the Washington Redskins in a Week 5 conference matchup. The teams went into halftime level at 7-7 after a defensive touchdown from the Redskins and a passing score from Falcons' quarterback Matt Ryan. The game was tied 17-17 going into the fourth quarter before the Falcons' drove down the field and scored the eventual game-winning touchdown on a 13-yard rush. With the help of Clabo and the Falcons' offensive line they have established the top rushing game in the NFL by averaging almost 196 yards per game. With the win the Falcons stay perfect and move to 5-0 on the year for the first ever in franchise history. The Falcons will take on the Oakland Raiders on Sunday.
Chris Givens - Rams
The St. Louis Rams kicked off Week 5 with a Thursday night matchup against the undefeated Arizona Cardinals. The night marked the first career NFL receiving touchdown for Givens as he exploded off the line and made a double-move to beat the defender deep for a 51-yard touchdown catch. Givens now has four catches in the past three games for a total of 112 yards with one touchdown. Givens may take on an expanded role on Sunday after receiver Danny Amendola left the game early with an injury. The Rams took down the undefeated Cardinals 17-3 with the help of Givens' touchdown catch and the Rams' defense which had nine sacks in the game. The Rams take on the Miami Dolphins on Sunday as they look to improve on their 3-2 record.
Joe Looney - 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers hosted the Buffalo Bills on Sunday as they looked to continue their early season success. 49ers' quarterback Alex Smith led the offense as he threw for a season-high 303 yards with three touchdowns. The offense had a balanced passing and rushing attack as they put up 621 total yards for the game, 311 yards from rushing and 310 yards from the passing game. The 621 total yards set the single-game franchise record. The 49ers' offense led the way as they downed the Bills 45-3. Looney, who has not seen any action yet, still sits second on the depth chart at the left guard position. The 49ers host the New York Giants on Sunday as they look to move to 5-1 on the season.
Calvin Pace - Jets
Pace and the New York Jets' defense took on the Houston Texans Monday night in a conference game. Pace had three total tackles in the game, two of which came on short pass plays. Pace now has 22 tackles on the year with one forced fumble and one sack. He played in his 128th career game on Monday night. The Jets' defense intercepted Texans quarterback Matt Schaub in the first quarter which led the Jets to their first touchdown of the game. The Jets were unable to stop the Texans' offense as they fell 23-17. The Jets look to reach .500 for the season on Sunday as they take on the Indianapolis Colts.
Cyhl Quarles - Patriots
Quarles was released from the Patriots' practice squad after spending the past few weeks with the team. The rookie safety was originally signed by the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent but was released late in the preseason.
Steve Vallos - Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles took on the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday in an in-state, non-conference tilt. The Steelers took a 10-0 lead going into halftime after scoring a touchdown and a field goal in the final five minutes of the second quarter. Eagles' quarterback Michael Vick helped put the Eagles on the board first in the second half with a 15-yard passing touchdown. The Eagles scored a go-ahead touchdown with 6:30 left in the game to put them up 14-13. The Steelers drove down the field at the end of the game and hit a game-winning field goal with three seconds remaining on the clock to take the victory 16-14. Vallos did not see any playing time in the game, but the Eagles will continue to use him as support on the line. The Eagles, now 3-2, will take on the Detroit Lions on Sunday.
Kyle Wilber - Cowboys
Wilber and the Dallas Cowboys had a bye week this past weekend but will play the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday in a Week 6 matchup.
