- Wake Forest is looking to steal the national spotlight with an upset of defending ACC champion Clemson on Thursday evening at BB&T Field.
- Clemson holds a 59-17-1 lead in the all-time series with Wake Forest which dates back to 1933.
- The Tigers have won five of the past six meetings with the Deacons, but Wake has won three of the last five games in the series played at BB&T Field.
- The last Wake Forest win in the series came in 2008 when the Deacons claimed a 12-7 victory on a Thursday night ESPN game at BB&T Field.
- All-time, Wake Forest is 6-13-1 against Clemson at BB&T Field.
- The Deacons come in to the game following a 16-10 win at Virginia last weekend.
- New field goal kicker Chad Hedlund booted three field goals, and the Wake Forest defense produced three turnovers to help the Deacons snap a two-game losing skid.
- Wake Forest got out of the gates quickly, using a 60-yard punt return by Lovell Jackson to set up a 16-yard touchdown run from Josh Harris on the Deacons' first play from scrimmage.
- From there, Wake Forest relied on Hedlund and the defense to earn the program's first win in Charlottesville since 2001.
- The defense came in allowing more than 206 rushing yards and 31 points per game, but the Deacons limited the Cavaliers to 48 yards on 32 carries.
- It was the second straight game Wake Forest limited its opponent to less than 60 yards rushing.
- Clemson is coming off a 38-17 win over Virginia Tech last Saturday in Death Valley.
- The Tigers rode their defense, which tallied three interceptions and limited the Hokies to just seven points in the second half.
