No. 7 Wake Forest hosts Virginia Tech Wednesday in its regular season finale. The game will kick-off at 7 p.m. at Spry Stadium in Winston-Salem.

Series History

Wake Forest holds a 5-3-2 advantage in the all-times series with Virginia Tech, including a 3-1-1 advantage at Spry Stadium.
However, the Deacons are winless in their last four meetings with the Hokies with the last two matches ending in ties.

Top Storylines

Wake Forest heads into its final regular season game assured of finishing no worse than a tie for second-place in the ACC. With a win or tie against Virginia Tech, the Demon Deacons would finish in second place by themselves for the first time.
Wake Forest jumped back into the top-10 of all the major soccer rankings after wins over NC State and No. 10 North Carolina last week.
The 2-1 win over the Tar Heels in Chapel Hill was the Deacons' first-ever road victory over UNC and only their second overall.
Katie Stengel is currently riding a four-game goal-scoring streak. She has totaled seven goals in 10 games since returning from the FIFA U-20 World Cup, a goals per game mark of 0.70 that ranks as the fifth-best in the conference.
Wake Forest is unbeaten in its last six games. The Demon Deacons' last loss came back on Sept. 23 against Maryland.
Two juniors have taken over first place in the Wake Forest career record books this season. Katie Stengel's 42 goals and 99 points along with Aubrey Bledsoe's 23 shutouts are all the highest totals in school history.
With an appearance against Virginia Tech, captain Jackie Logue would tie the Wake Forest career games played record with her 91st appearance. Logue already holds the Wake Forest career starts record (86).

Scouting the Hokies

Virginia Tech was one of the hottest teams in the country early in the year, going 9-0-0 in non-conference play, but the Hokies cooled off against ACC opposition, holding a 3-5-1 ACC record that puts them in ninth place in the conference.
With only the top eight teams qualifying for the ACC Championship, Virginia Tech needs at least a point against Wake Forest to keep its ACC postseason hopes alive. The Hokies sit one point behind Miami, but hold the tiebreaker over the Hurricanes. Miami plays Florida State Thursday in its ACC finale.

Wake Forest will receive either the No. 2 or No. 3 seed in the ACC Championship, meaning that the Demon Deacons will host the quarterfinal round of the tournament on Sunday at 1 p.m. Their opponent is still TBD.
The Demon Deacons have reached the finals of the tournament in each of the past two seasons and won the 2010 ACC Championship.
