GREENSBORO, N.C. - On the heels of Wake Forest's best ACC Tournament run, sophomore guard Chelsea Douglas has been named to ACC All-Tournament Second Team.
Douglas scored 21 points in the opening round victory over Virginia Tech on Thursday and then scored 18 points in the Deacons' upset of No. 2-seed Miami on Friday night in the quarterfinals. She had four rebounds in both games as well. In the semifinal loss to eventual champion Maryland, Douglas scored 14 points and dished-out a pair of assists.
For the tournament, Douglas averaged 17.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. She helped lead Wake Forest to back-to-back victories in the same tournament for the first time ever and the Deacons made their first appearance in the semifinals since 1988.
Wake Forest also knocked-off a top-10 ranked team for just the second time ever and it is now the only school to win an ACC Tournament game in each of the last four years.
The Deacons will now wait and to find out their NCAA Tournament fate. Selection Monday is set for Monday, March 12 at 7 p.m. The bracket announcement will be made on ESPN.
