Whitlock Tabbed To Rotary Lombardi Watch List

HOUSTON, Texas - Wake Forest nose guard Nikita Whitlock has been named to the 43rd Annual Rotary Lombardi Award Official Watch List as announced by the Rotary Club of Houston. The Rotary Lombardi Award is given to the nation's top college lineman or linebacker each year.
Whitlock is coming off a stellar 2011 campaign that saw him finish fourth on the team with 64 tackles, including a team-best 14 tackles for loss. He enters the 2012 season second among active ACC players with 24.5 career tackles for loss.
The Wylie, Texas native, earned second team All-ACC honors a year ago and finished fifth in the conference in tackles for loss. Whitlock was also named to the a sophomore All-American Team by College Football News.
To be eligible for the Rotary Lombardi Award, a player must be an offensive or defensive end-to-end down linemen who set up no farther than 10 yards to the left or right of the ball or a linebacker who sets up no farther than five yards deep from the line of scrimmage. Through four rounds of voting by the selection committee, the 43rd Rotary Lombardi Award Winner will be determined and announced on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at The Hobby Center in Houston, Texas.
