Garside Sets High Expectations For Upcoming Season

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Redshirt sophomore Jordan Garside has several high school teammates from the Bolles School on the 2012 Wake Forest football roster, yet his path to the playing field has been different from the others.
A walk-on who redshirted his freshman season, played in all 13 games in 2011 on special teams and has made an indelible mark on the team.
"It's definitely a challenge (being a walk-on)," said Garside. "But it's something that's been an experience and I'm thankful for it".
Known as a hard-worker on the field and in the classroom, Garside is listed as a fullback and measures in at 5-10, 235 pounds. He was named to the All-ACC Academic Honor Roll as a true freshman and maintains a high GPA. Coming from a family of athletes, his brother Troy played football at Texas Tech from 2005-08 and his sister Jamie played soccer at Florida from 2002-05.
Garside looks to continue what he started when he joined the team. "For myself, I have high expectations," said Garside. "I want to contribute and do my best each day".
Hailing from Jacksonville, Fla., Garside attended the Bolles School with free safety Desmond Cooper, linebacker Scott Betros and punter Alex Wulfeck, making up four of the 31 Florida players on the team. .
Wake Forest practiced for around 90 minutes on Monday morning and finished up with a second practice later in the afternoon for the first two-a-day of the summer. The first scrimmage of the season takes place on Thursday morning.
