WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest wrapped up its preseason camp on Friday with a two-hour workout at the Doc Martin Practice Complex.
Most of the Demon Deacons also spent their Friday morning assisting with Freshmen Move-In Day on campus. The players were out in full force to help the new freshmen students move in to their dorm rooms.
This weekend marks the end of Wake Forest's preseason workouts, which began on Aug. 6. The Deacons are preparing to enter Week 1 of the regular season on Monday, as the season opener with Liberty looms the following Saturday.
The final piece to the preseason will be the Deacons' walk-through scrimmage at BB&T Field on Saturday. However, the scrimmage will serve more as a gameday refresher than an actual 11-on-11 competition.
"It's really going to be more about being organized, having the players go through their pre-game routine, having the coaches used to being in the box or on the field," said head coach Jim Grobe. "We'll probably hit a little bit but it's just going to be a 'thud' scrimmage. We won't have players taken to the ground. It's more of an organizational thing than anything else."
Admission to the scrimmage is free and is open to the public. The team is scheduled to take the field at 7 p.m.
The Deacons open the regular season on Saturday, Sept. 1, against Big South Conference foe Liberty. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. at BB&T Field.
