No. 15 Deacons to Compete in Princeton Invitational
- Wake Forest will make its final non-conference road trip of the season this weekend.
- The Demon Deacons will travel to Princeton, N.J. for the Princeton Invitational, facing the Tigers on Aug. 31 at 7:30 p.m. and Hofstra on Sept. 2 at 12 p.m.

- Aubrey Bledsoe made one save against Charlotte on Sunday to earn the 19th shutout of her career, setting the Wake Forest career record. Bledsoe passed Erin Regan, who kept 18 clean sheets between 1998-02, for first place on the shutout charts.
- Senior defender Jackie Logue and associate head coach Tim Santoro will be making the trip back to their home state of New Jersey.
- Ally Berry has earned three assists in the Deacons' first four games and is tied for the ACC lead in that category. She has tied her previous season-high of three helpers, which was set in 2009 and tied in 2011.
- Taylor Waters scored her first career goal against Greensboro. She is the second freshman to score for the Demon Deacons this year after Katie Dry found the back of the net against Richmond.
- Junior Lee Page and freshman Katie Dry made the first starts of their careers in Wake Forest's win over Charlotte.
- The Demon Deacons are ranked in the Top 25 of all major rankings. Wake Forest is highest in the Soccer Times poll where it is tied for seventh place. The Deacons are ranked No. 15 by the NSCAA and No. 20 by Soccer America
- Junior All-American forward Katie Stengel will be away for the team for the early part of the season as she competes as a member of the U.S. Under-20 National Team at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Japan. Stengel started and played the full 90 minutes against Germany and came off the bench in matches against Ghana and China. The Americans finished in second place in Group D and will play Group C winners North Korea on Aug. 31 at 6:20 a.m. EDT. The match will be broadcast on ESPNU.
This Weekend's Opponents
- Princeton's match against Wake Forest on Friday will be its season opener. The Tigers return All-Ivy League First Team honoree Jen Hoy, who led the team with eight goals last season.
- Hofstra sits at 2-1 through its first three games, defeating Ohio State and Temple before falling to Georgetown.
- Sophomore Sam Scolarici, a 2011 All-ACC Rookie Team member, leads the Pride with three of the team's six goals.
Series Histories
- Wake Forest and Princeton are meeting for only the second time.
- The only previous match between the Demon Deacons and the Tigers came in 2004, when Wake Forest earned a 1-0 victory in Winston-Salem. That turned out to be one of only three losses that season for Princeton, which went on to reach the NCAA College Cup.
- Wake Forest and Hofstra have never met in women's soccer.
