Wake Forest Head Coach Jim Grobe
Opening Statement...
"You really hate to see their teams lose - both teams played their hearts out today. As much as I think playing Army, Navy, or Air Force is a fit for us, I don't like to do it because they're good. We had a heck of a time stopping them today. So I'm proud of our football team, but I'm also proud of the team in the other locker room. They have a lot of class, guts, and toughness."
On throwing in the game...
"I really went into the game thinking we could probably throw a little bit, because Northern Illinois had some success throwing the football last week. But I really didn't feel like we could be fun and gun and win the football game. I felt like if we couldn't have a little ball control, keep them a little bit off balance (we would struggle). You know, they're playing some young guys on defense, and I felt like the key for us was to count on Tanner to complete some throws. I think we did what we had to do, we made some throws, but certainly it was fun to see the two running backs go today. I thought both of them had good days, and I thought we got a little better up front. I really liked watching Josh and Deandre run the football today."
On Linebackers making plays...
"Big time. One of our thoughts was that the linebackers were going to have to make some plays. I thought Mike Olson two or three times had huge plays for us. He's a guy who can run and who has to make plays for us - he's a playmaker. I was impressed with that"
On Mike Olson...
"He's a really good player. He's starting for us, and when he's getting as many reps as he's getting, you know he's a good one. And he's been more durable. He's been a little dinged throughout his career, but now that he's a junior he's really starting to show some toughness and durability. He's fun to watch - he likes to play too. He gets stirred up."
Junior Running Back Josh Harris
On his running performance today...
"All we needed was that one block that could let us go, and I feel like today was that day. Our offensive line played amazing today, and I feel like they are really the entire reason why we could go. It's amazing to see our guy blocking and to just see the entire field, and I just ran the ball as fast as I could."
On playing against the Army running game...
"I knew that our offense had to score every time. It's hard to get ready for that team in only a week, so our offense knew that it would be tough. We knew we had to do all of the things we know how to do to come out on top."
Junior Linebacker Justin Jackson
On his fumble recovery...
"I was just trying to play the quarterback to pitch, and when I saw the quarterback pitch it I guess I was in front of him and it forced them to mess up their pitch relationship. So he had to pitch it kind of fast. I saw the ball hit and I just tried to scoop it up and run with it."
On Deandre Martin's touchdown run...
"It was a big relief, and I was excited because I knew at that point they couldn't stop us since they were out of timeouts. It was a long game and they were running the ball pretty hard on us and making our defense work hard to stop them."
Junior Quarterback Tanner Price
On running the ball...
"It is something that we've been trying to get going all year and we had a lot of success running the football in this game, which was nice to see. I have to give a lot of props to our running backs and our offensive line, they all did really well today."
On Michael Campanaro...
"He is just a great target and I love throwing to him. He just has a knack for getting open so I'm going to keep getting the ball to him when he gets those open opportunities."
On last play where Deandre scored the touchdown...
"It was a big sigh of release when Deandre Martin got the touchdown. That sealed the deal and got us the win. It felt really good when he brought that one to the house for us."
Junior Wide Receiver Michael Campanaro
On the blocking ...
"Brandon Terry, Sherman Ragland III, and Terence Davis all did a great job all day blocking out there and putting up good screens. Tanner had a lot of time to get rid of the football today. Our offensive line just played great today. It was good to see him back there just picking his options"
On the offense...
"We just put a little wrinkle in this week and went a little wild cat with Deandre. It was great to see the running game go well today and see the offensive line play as well as they did. They did a great job creating holes for Josh Harris and Deandre Martin and protecting Tanner. It really all started with those guys, they got our offense going."
