Sept. 25, 2012
- Wake Forest will get back to ACC play this Saturday when it hosts Tobacco Road rival Duke.
- The Demon Deacons have won 12 straight games over the Blue Devils dating back to the 1999 season.
- Duke's last win over Wake Forest came in 1999 when the Blue Devils came away with a 48-35 defeat of the Deacons in Durham.
- Since then, Wake Forest has outscored Duke by more than 10 points per game (an average of 36-25) over the past 12 meetings.
- The Deacons come into the game following a 49-37 win over Army last weekend.
- The game featured more than 1,000 yards of total offense, as the Deacons outlasted the Black Knights and their vaunted option running attack.
- Wake Forest relied on several big plays, as well as the versatility of wide receiver Michael Campanaro, who finished with three touchdowns on the day. Campanaro caught 12 of Tanner Price's 15 completions for 153 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 31 yards and another score.
- The Deacons' tailback duo of Josh Harris and Deandre Martin proved potent, as they each finished with two rushing touchdowns to go along with 129 and 115 yards respectively.
- Harris, Martin and Campanaro became just the second Demon Deacon trio to have two players with more than 100 yards rushing and one with more than 100 yards receiving in a game.
- Wake Forest's defense made key plays when needed, most notably a fourth-down stop late in the game to keep Army from driving further into Deacon territory.
- Linebackers Justin Jackson and Mike Olson and defensive end Zach Thompson combined to make 35 tackles to help keep the Black Knights' option offense at bay.
Next Up
- Wake Forest heads out on the road next Saturday to take on Maryland.
- The Demon Deacons have won four out of the last six meetings with the Terrapins.
- Wake has not enjoyed its last two visits to College Park however, falling 26-0 in 2008 and 62-14 in 2010.
