- Wake Forest welcomes longtime rival North Carolina to town for the first time since 2007, as the Demon Deacons host the Tar Heels on Saturday at BB&T Field.
- The Deacons and Tar Heels are both coming off wins over FCS opponents last weekend. However, each went about their wins in different fashion, as the Deacons gutted out a 20-17 victory over Liberty while the Tar Heels raced past Elon 62-0.
- Redshirt freshman tailback Deandre Martin scored the go-ahead touchdown with 13:24 left in the fourth quarter. Martin was impressive in his collegiate debut, rushing 21 times for 74 yards and a touchdown.
- The Deacons were also without top receiving threat Michael Campanaro after the junior suffered an ankle sprain in the first half. Campanaro returned from the injury and finished with nine catches for 96 yards and a 31-yard touchdown grab in the second quarter.
- Giovani Bernard had three first-half touchdowns and North Carolina had its biggest scoring day in 17 years to beat Elon 62-0 last Saturday in the debut of new head coach Larry Fedora and his no-huddle spread attack. Bernard finished with 93 yards rushing and 203 all-purpose yards before leaving late in the first half with an apparent injury.
- Quarterback Bryn Renner threw for 236 yards and three touchdowns for the Tar Heels, who had 524 total yards on the day.
- Wake Forest and North Carolina are longtime rivals, having met 104 previous times on the gridiron. However, with the ACC's recent schedule rotation, the teams are meeting for just the second time in the past five seasons.
- Wake Forest has won two of the past three meetings, including consecutive wins in 2006 and 2007, which marks the Tar Heels' last trip to BB&T Field.

- The Demon Deacons head out on the road for the first time next Saturday when they travel to Tallahassee, Fla. to take on Florida State.
- The Demon Deacons have won four of the last six games against the Seminoles.
- FSU won the last meeting in Tallahassee, 31-0 in 2010.
