With the Win
- The Deacons even their overall record at 3-3 and improve to 1-2 in ACC games
- Jim Grobe earns his 76th win at Wake Forest and is now one win shy of tying Peahead Walker for the school record for victories
- Grobe's record improves to 76-77 in 13 years at Wake Forest and 109-110-1 in 19 years as a college head coach
- Wake Forest's record under Grobe improves to 32-10 in games against in-state opponents
- Wake Forest has won six straight home games against NC State
- Wake Forest improves to 21-3 at home against in-state opponents under Grobe
Price Doing It All
- Quarterback Tanner Price had a nice all-around game, finishing with a career-high 350 yards of total offense (82 rush, 268 pass). That broke his previous career-high of 342 total yards in the win over Maryland on Nov. 19, 2011.
- Price ran for a career-high 82 yards, breaking his previous career-high of 66 yards which he set against Army this season.
- He also had his sixth three-touchdown pass game and the first since Nov. 3, 2012 against Boston College.
- Price ran for his ninth career touchdown marking the second time in his career with three touchdown passes and one touchdown run. He also did that in his second career game against Duke on Sept. 11, 2010.
That's a lot of Completions
- Senior quarterback Tanner Price completed 24 passes in the game, giving him 722 for his career.
- He is just the second quarterback in school history with 700 career completions.
- Price also went over 1,000 yards passing this season, making him just the second quarterback in school history with four 1,000-yard passing seasons.
- Riley Skinner is the other quarterback with four 1,000-yard seasons and 700 career completions.
200 and counting...
- Senior wide receiver Michael Campanaro hauled-in 12 passes on the afternoon for a total of 153 yards.
- He now has 206 receptions in his career, becoming just the second Wake Forest player with more than 200 career receptions.
- Campanaro is just 10 receptions behind school-record holder Desmond Clark who had 216 catches from 1995-98.
- Campanaro is now tied with Clemson's Deandre Hopkins for seventh in ACC history with 206 career receptions.
100-yard Game
- Flanker Michael Campanaro recorded the sixth 100-yard receiving as well as the sixth 10-plus reception game of his career.
- It was his second 100-yard receiving game this season. He had a career-high 177 yards against ULM on Sept. 14.
Bishop With Career Highs
- Tight end Spencer Bishop enjoyed his best game as a Deacon, catching a career-high three passes for a career-high 68 yards.
- He had a career-long reception of 54 yards in the second quarter.
There Goes That Man Again
- Senior nose guard Nikita Whitlock finished the game with six tackles but also had a sack and 1.5 tackles for loss.
- He has had at least one tackle for loss in each game this season and this is his fourth game with at least one sack.
- Whitlock is now fifth in school history with 41.5 tackles for loss and sixth with 14.5 sacks.
- Whitlock was third in the country coming into the week with 10.0 tackles for loss this season and was tied for 12th with four sacks.
Defensive Notes
- Kevin Johnson recorded his third interception of the season and the sixth of his career.
- Freshman James Looney recorded the first sack of his career in the fourth quarter.
- Merril Noel ended the game with his second interception of the season and the fourth of his career.
- Redshirt-freshman Ryan Janvion led the team with a career-high 11 tackles.
- Freshman Deonte Davis finished the day with five tackles. He has played in all six games this season and this was his first multi-tackle game of the year.
Miscellaneous Notes
- NC State won the toss and deferred to the second half
- Wake Forest captains were seniors Justin Jackson, Mike Olson and Zach Thompson
- Wake Forest is 4-3 (entering) wearing gold jerseys since they debuted Nov. 8, 2008 in a win over Virginia. Wake Forest wore gold jerseys in a 30-24 home win over NC State on Oct. 3, 2009.
- Wake Forest scored first for the first time this season. It was the first time scoring first since the Boston College game on Nov. 3, 2012.
- Wide receiver Jared Crump recorded the first touchdown catch of his career.
- NC State was averaging over 200 yards rushing a game but the Deacs held the Wolfpack to just 115 yards on the ground.
